About one month ago, On September 20, 2023 (To be more specific). I took the challenge of Learning Spanish in 30 days. You can read more about why and how I started this journey, Here, Hoy es sábado! Y estoy aprendiendo español.

It was a 30-day Spanish-Learning challenge focused on four main aspects of learning a language: L-listening, R-reading, S-speaking, and W-writing.

In this article, I will share the experiences I gained from this journey of achieving an A1.1 Spanish Speaker within 30 days.

So, Let’s dive into my Journey.

My Language Learning Journey:

L - Listening:-

To improve my listening skills, I used one of the most entertaining resources available, Spotify.

For the entire 30-day period, I decided to immerse myself in Spanish music and podcasts. During this time, I have found some great playlists on Spotify.

First, there is a collection of the “Best Songs in Spanishplaylist that made me fall in love with Spanish classical music.

Secondly, I have two podcasts, these are about small and easy stories in Spanish so you can improve your listening skills while enjoying stories.

I highly recommend these podcasts if you are learning Spanish:

  1. Simple Stories in Spanish
  2. Easy Spanish

Listening to these Podcasts and music not only helped me in developing various Spanish accents’ understanding but I also found it a really entertaining way to acquire a language.

Since I have a premium Spotify account, annoying ads were not an issue.

R - Reading:-

To enhance my reading skills, it was a pretty complicated beginning but with the help and guidance of a friend of mine who is a native Spanish speaker, It became easier for me.

I have already written an article on how reading in Spanish helped me a lot in my learning journey.

But when it comes to what I did, it can be divided into 2 parts.

Part 1:-

Firstly, as my friend suggested I focused on reading small phrases, sentences, and paragraphs, and especially reading comprehension.

Reading comprehension really helped me understand sentence structures and grasp Spanish grammar.

You can check out our reading comprehension e-book that I have created with my native Spanish Speaker friend. and It is totally free.

While reading those comprehensions, I also studied Grammar and sentence structures in Spanish. and it was completely free of cost just with the help of YouTube.

There are two channels that I would suggest to you if you are willing to learn Spanish grammar and sentence structures.

  1. The Language Tutor by Dr. Danny Evans

He helped me with the basics of Spanish, vocabulary, verb conjugation, the use of direct object pronouns with indirect object pronouns, and many more precise grammatical things in Spanish.

Here is his Playlist that has everything you need in your Spanish learning journey. :- Spanish Lessons for Beginner Learners

2. Spanish with Lalina

Her small and easy-to-understand videos helped me remember important phrases, commands, and important verbs in Spanish.

So I will recommend her for sure to anyone who is interested in Spanish and wants a small and understandable start.

Part 2:-

After reading and understanding enough grammatical stuff. I was enough confident to start reading a real Spanish book. But again my friend. a native Spanish Speaker, suggested I should slow down and She recommended a book called Short Stories in Spanish for Beginners by Olly Richards.

Short Stories in Spanish for Beginners by Olly Richards.

So I followed her advice and bought that book(not too expensive) and surprisingly, I was able to read and understand 70–80% of that book. I am still reading that book and It is really helpful.

There are eight stories in the book and each story is divided into four chapters, So it does not get boring since you can take a break after each chapter.

My book

I am on story 4 of that book. and I have realized that there is one thing, where I really need to improve and work on, and that is Vocabulary.

Let me explain myself,

Even if I can understand the sentences it does not mean I understand them entirely because sometimes I just don’t know what a particular word means. Then, I need to check its real meaning as I want to know what exactly the author is trying to say.

But yeah, “you can say ‘Aryan you can’t know every word of a language in just 30 days.’”

You are totally right, I agree with you 100%.

But That’s what I am trying to say; I need to improve my vocabulary.

For that, I have to read more books, watch videos, and of course, practice them by using them in conversation and writing & speaking in Spanish.

And now we can move to the other two main aspects of learning a language that is:

W-Writing & S-Speaking:-

Well, I have to admit that I did not often focus on these two aspects.

But I always tried to write at least one page in Spanish and Speak for 5 minutes with my native Spanish speaker friend.

She always helps me by correcting my mistakes in writing and correcting my pronunciation and I try to imitate her accent.

And after this 30-day challenge, I have realized that I have to work more on my accent and pronunciation.

So, This was my journey of learning Spanish in 30 days. I learned lots of new things than before. and this journey taught me how much I can improve myself in just 30 days if I work on it with plan and consistency.

A test I gave some days ago

But It does not make me a fluent Spanish speaker. I have to Practice more, Speak more, and Study more, and Learn more.

This 30-day challenge gave me a great start and I won’t stop now. And I would like to encourage you all that if you ever wanted to learn a language then the time is now.
